How To Prepare For A Moderated Session

A little preparation helps you get more useful feedback from a moderated session.

Before the session starts, make sure your team is clear on what you want to learn and what you need the participant to do.

Check Your Setup

Use a modern browser and make sure your camera, microphone and internet connection are working before the session. DLYTE does not currently provide a guided in-platform camera or microphone check, so it is worth testing your setup before joining.

If you plan to share a website, prototype or document, have it open and ready before the session begins.
Review The Participant
Before the session, open the participant’s details in the study management view. You can review their:

  • Match score
  • Eligibility checks
  • Screener answers
  • Relevant profile answers
  • Connection quality status
  • Attendance confirmation status, where available

This helps you tailor your follow-up questions and avoid repeating information the participant has already provided.

    Prepare Your Session Flow

Have your main questions ready, but leave room to ask follow-up questions. Moderated sessions are most useful when you can explore what the participant does, says, misunderstands or hesitates over in real time.

If multiple team members are joining, decide who will lead the session and who will observe or take notes.
