How Connection Checks Support Moderated Session Quality

Poor internet connections are one of the most common causes of disrupted research sessions. DLYTE runs connection quality checks on participants to reduce the risk of technical issues affecting your moderated study.

Before sessions are confirmed, DLYTE assesses participants’ connection readiness.

The check covers:

  • Browser compatibility
  • Latency
  • Download and upload speed
  • WebRTC availability, which is required for video conferencing

The result feeds into two visible places.

First, connection quality is a factor in how participants are ranked and selected for your study. Participants with stronger, more reliable connections receive higher priority.

Second, a connection quality status label is shown next to each participant in your study management view. This gives you visibility before a session takes place.

Participants can also view their own connection quality status from their profile page and run a recheck at any time. This means that by the time a session is confirmed, both you and the participant have an indicator of whether the technical setup is ready.

This does not eliminate all possible technical issues during a session, but it significantly reduces the likelihood of booking with a participant whose connection is likely to cause problems.
